Shadow Work

If you see something, say something.
Not in a big-brother, police-state kind of a way.
In an introspective, outward perspective, call it like it really is, way.

Look at your life.

Really look at your life, yourself, your environment.
Start at the beginning.
First, break yourself open.

Really, truly break yourself open.
Crack your bones, rip your flesh, and lay your entrails out exposed, in all their gory glory.
Rend your ribcage asunder, and witness your heart beat out your lifeblood upon the rocky earth.
See the spray spatter pattern of your essence seep into the soil, and breath Deeply...
Only then, the real work can begin.
Now, if you see something, say something.

Wherever there is darkness.
Wherever there is rot, decay, disease… call it out.
Say, “I see you, festering there”.
Say to the murkiest, hidden away, and deliberately ignored bits of your life, “I notice you”.
Say to your pain, your struggle, your illness, your desperation, “I behold you”.
To your broken heart, your battered soul, your tattered mind, say, “I am watching you”.
Let your attention flow toward the splintered bits of your Being, left long-forgotten in shadow.
Let the light of consciousness bring movement to that which is stagnant.
Be present with your own brokenness.
Embrace your shattered loneliness.
Break bread with the wounded, howling beast inside your deepest secrets.
Observe your fragments, your littered, crimson viscera.
Every malfunctioning mechanism, every shredded axil, every worn-out gear wheel.
Every pang of anguish which you can hardly bear to dwell in.

Do NOT turn away.
Examine every detail.
Hold space for your totality.
The entire magnificent imperfection of your existence.

No more half-truths.
No more fractional understanding.
No more muffled cries.

Call yourself out.
Call clearly. ...and if you see something, say something.
